I suddenly thought that this might not be the appropriate place to post such a thing as my last post... it's supposed to be just a friendly, chatty place, I guess? Not for spouting problems. So I apologise for boring you all if that's the case... just ignore me!

Ignore a Simpson? (My eldest has started watching the cartoon.) Regarding the drinking all I can think of is a treatment centre, plus there are meds that will make any alcohol spew out before you can enjoy it.

Lisa, you are in the right place. I remember your difficulties from before. My mom drank herself to death, my grandparents, whom I lived with, were alcoholics, and I have abused alcohol, so I know a little about what you might be going through. I can listen and give support.
I think everyone is different in their recovery. Unfortunately, my mom could or would not find a plan of attack that was right for her because she really did not want to stop.I know others here have gone through it and overcome it after tremendous effort and with a lot of courage.
I am glad you are here. It's good to see your name again. Please stay.

Are you taking any meds? (Has this already been asked?)
I am taking Depakote for Bipolar and my cravings for alcohol are diminished greatly when i'm on it. and i drank like a fish - really.
still have occasional bouts, but daily life is better.
i think if you can get the right meds, that's the first start. i don't agree with doing AA first (at least not for me), though after getting some medical help, i know it does help some people.
should i point out, very sadly, that sar commited suicide? I feel bad saying that, but some of the posts have been archived on PSB and i know you two conversed. we have been very sad.
let us know what happens.

Oh Kat, I had no idea about Sar... I can't believe to hear that. I feel really bad too, because when we first started talking, we agreed to try and stop together, and that we would keep in regular contact about how each other was doing... but that sort of fell by the wayside, as things do. Oh, I just can't believe it.
I'm on Xanax, primarily to stop my panic attacks, but also the aim is to stop me drinking too, but it doesn't work, because I do both. I used to take something called... is Clomparamine? Something like that. But it used to give me terrible diarrhoea sometimes. Also I was told it lowered resistance to fits, which I occasionally have.
Thank you everyone for replying to me. Hearing about Sar has really choked me up. How do did you find out about it?

I'm going to take off for awhile but wanted to direct you to some info. check out the social board lastly archived. there are several threads on sar. and come to chat - many questions can be answered there.
a new poster, trouble, attended her funeral, and kid_a spoke with, i believe, her last working place.
i wish there were more details myself, just for peace of mind...
so sad.
