I'm on an incredibly low dose (25 mg) of Zoloft and the sweating, from the slightest indication of warmth, is pretty awful. I was on 50 mg and got flu-like symptoms that were so unbearable that my doctor moved me back down to the 25, where i've stayed.
Anyway, is there any way to eliminate the sweating? And now that i've been on 25 mg for about 8 weeks, could i think about moving the dosage up or would the same side effects recur? To be honest, i have seen little or no improvement in mood due to this drug, which doesn't surprise me because of the dose i'm on. hardly seems worth it.
Advice, please?
thanks,
Charlie

Hi Charlie,
I'm surprised that your still on that AD. Your doctor is really persistent about Zoloft working for you. Have you been on any meds before? My friend was on Zo for about 6wks. and was getting intense night sweats so she discontinued and started prozac which gives her almost side effects. 8wks. is usually a good trial period for a med and if you still cant tolerate it maybe its time to find another that you can. Have you tried to take it before bed?

Good ideas, Brandon.
My pharmacist has said never to take it on an empty stomach as well.
No matter -- two months is a reasonable trial to get up to therapeutic dosages. You're nowhere near that. I'd say it's time to reconsider ... medicine is, after all, supposed to have a net positive effect.

James here....I have the sweating problems with most AD's, with me it does get better with time, but is not going to get any better after being on something for a month or so. If you have been on Zoloft for a while, and the sweating really bothers you, it is time to try another AD.

Have had severe sweating on effexor, but less so with the effexor xr, who knows why?

Thanks for all your advice. After seeing my Dr today, i'm off Zoloft. I was only on 25 mg, and she suggested i take one every other day for a few days, to ease the withdrawal. We'll see!
All i know is, besides the sweating, i have felt like i have a cold coming on almost the whole time i've been on this. it was REALLY bad at 50 mg, which is why i went back to 25.
so i'll be clean for a while and then...what next?
I've taken paxil and serzone, and they were no help. On prozac, i had the happies for one month out of about 4-6 on the drug. It was amazing. Nothing bothered me, but i wasn't spacey or anything. Any ideas of how i could make the happies last? Not sure of the dosage any more -- this was years ago.

James here....
I just switched to XR and am having the same reaction (less sweating). XR is extended release, so your not gett a large dose of effexor all at once. The sweating side effect is dose dependent.
