I'm surprised this is the first time I noticed this thread. Where have I been??? :-\
This actually sounds fun. And the fact that these Drs would be there to learn from us, makes it even cooler. It will be very interesting to see which babblers can still participate as the time gets closer.
Do you know the max number of people who can sign up for your presentation? I'd be curious to know how many Drs you are estimating will be per babbler in each small group. I think it is a great idea to give the Drs both perspectives. Your perspective as the Dr. who administers the board and our perspective as the ones benefiting from this type of interaction.
Maybe you can do some general polls on here and summarize it on a handout. Maybe ask how often we visit the website, how helpful we find it, our level of participation, how many of the boards we use/participate in, etc. Just make it anonymous. And you can also ask things like if we have a tdoc/pdoc, have we told them about our participation in a board like this. Or something like, if our tdoc/pdoc had suggested using a support website like this, would we have taken their advice and joined. The list can go on and on and on. Since these are Drs, I'm assuming they'll love seeing numbers to back up whatever is said. I know I would! I love charts and graphs. :-D

I totally admire each of the babblers who are going to be there. And do stuff to help others. You're all so bloody brave, I'm thinking I wouldn't mind jumping on the bandwagon. But I don't know if it's allowed, at this point. It is kind of late in the game already. But I feel like I have something I could add, I guess that's a start.

I would love love LOVE to do a 3-minute stand-up comedy.. or write the lines for an actress.. because I can tell you this, I'd have every psych looking at themselves and rolling in the aisles. What a piece that would be.

Okay? Don't panic, I was manic.
But the thought was so much FUN, I was having a lot of fun with it. Still do, even now the thought just makes me smile.
Seriously, I hope you have a good time. It would be interesting to attend though. I think it would be useful. Is it too late to get involved in attending?

I'll be attending as my posting name as well. I'm OK with audio and note taking, but not video.
I've got the date in my calendar.
I'm not sure what you need from us in advance of the meeting. Can you elaborate? Thanks

Right, just posting names.

I was thinking 1 poster per group would mean more and therefore smaller groups, but if people are more comfortable doubling up, that would be fine, too.

They don't have to sign up in advance, so it's hard to predict. But Monday's a good day...

This is your chance! :-)

I don't think that anything I would have to say would merit any type of recording, but as long as nothing is used for a broadcast audio or video would be okay. Note taking is okay.
As long as I can be Poet, count me in.
What type of handouts? About psychobabble in general? Before my latest round of career failure I used to help with poster presentations for adolescent med conferences so I know that the handouts were statistics and nothing specific about patients. In other words nothing identifying. So handouts are okay with me, too.

Should we come up with some topics for discussion?
Should we start putting together any handouts now?

Should we form a handout committee?

> BobThat's a great idea. Depending on what you want to do, it may take some time to hash things out. I personally think doing some surveys on here would be a great addition to a handout. Those take time to create and execute, so a committee would have to decide that pretty soon. And if you wanted people who aren't going to be given a chance to write something for a handout, that will take a lot of time also. If you have to have the materials ready by the beginning of Feb, that gives a committee just under 3 months. Better get started soon!
Now would the committee be comprised of only those who are going or will it also include some people who aren't going?
And I think 5/1 is a good cutoff date unless you have to let the conference people know about your guest presenters before that. I'm sure most people will have to have everything set up even before that (flights, hotel, time off work, etc).
And another thing that might be considered is having someone start researching hotels. If a few more people decide to come, you may be able to get a group rate at a hotel.
ok...I'll stop now.

If I were attending this presentation, I think I'd like to see a description of the different boards, maybe some user statistics, etc. on a handout.

Maybe we can describe the purpose of each board and how they are used. We can give some statistics about rates of posting and numbers of posters on each board. Any other ideas to throw around?
What kinds of things should we talk about as individuals? Will it be one to two posters per group then? Are they looking for personal stories or general comments?
On an unrelated note, I hope everywhere we go will be accessible by public transportation. I don't have a car.

I'm just past my first week here in India and I want to tell you that I feel like hiding sometimes, too. Here especially. I don't know what Toronto would do to me. Right now my intrepid side has left the building. Lost my passport and visa within the first two days, here's a tip, Leave your Passport and Visa Locked Up until Jet Lag has passed!!!! Where will you be coming from? I'll hole up with you.

I raise my hand to be on the committee. Anyone else?
I think we should ask for ideas and submissions and have a deadline for them. The committee can then put together the handouts based on those contributions.
Maybe we can find a way for members who cannot attend the event to contribute as much as attending members. What about posters speaking for members who want to contribute but cannot attend?

We definitely need to describe the various boards and show statistics on participation. Some segments of actual threads would be interesting to include. Show our different takes on things. We wouldn't have to include posting names.

Agreed. Should we come up with new descriptions of the boards or use the ones Dr. Bob gave us? Should we show statistics for each board or in general for the site?
> Some segments of actual threads would be interesting to include. Show our different takes on things. We wouldn't have to include posting names.
That's an interesting idea. Is there a page limit on the handouts? Can we do a small PowerPoint presentation?
Thanks for joining me on the committee Poet! Anyone else?
I'm so excited about this Toronto trip! It'll be my first time ever traveling alone! It'll be so cool! I can't wait to go!
