Only here when i feel bad

Posted by Mission7 on January 21, 2008, at 12:10:55

Do folks only come here when they feel bad? Do most of them 'graduate' and split? I find myself only tuning in when I get really down. It helps me think that I'm moving forward. Working on my problem. But, when my mood lifts, I'm off being a person. It kind of makes me feel unloyal.

I'm afraid I must be classified as a perpetual student, then. No, that's not true... when things are going better than usual, I also try to use this place to sound off. The lists of 10 Good Things can come in handy. And it's also an unpleasant surprise when you've had a few good days (and posted as such), only to have them come crashing down. As can happen when life has its way with us. Ups and downs, twists and turns.

I happen to be on an upwards spiral at the moment. Last week things seemed quite dire. At times like that I'm not always able to squeak out an entire list of 10, so I do what I can.

But I try to use this board in good times and bad, and to help others who seem to need it, because they do the same for me. It's a very forgiving board.
CS

p.s. How are you doing, then?

I'm doing better. The midwestern cold weather always seems to get me in a slump. So, I hike up the Lorazepam and Effexor, sit back and wait.

I paid all my bills (year end sales tax, suppliers, etc.) and that always stresses me out. I avoid it like the plague, but always feel great when it's over.

And you?

I'm a bit better, too. Hit a bad patch when every day was dark and dim, in spite of the Florida sunshine outside. Internal weather prevailed. I did nothing to remedy it medicinally and it resolved itself (thankfully), after which, I was able to ease up on myself. I had been trying to put the cart before that particular horse, in trying to ease up while I was still feeling so very depressed - it just plain doesn't work. Can't think myself out of it. Patience seems to be the key. How many more years before I actually learn this lesson?

take care, Mission!

i'm one of the weird ones. i usually tune in to babble when i'm feelign good, and tend to stray when i'm feeling bad. how strange is that?

i hope you're feeling better. i know the '10 lists' help me, when i'm feeling down, stressed, agrivated, and just plain lousy. have you tried one yet? if you don't i may be forced to go dumpster diving (archiving) and come up with a 10 list for you!!!

don't make me do it! i'm serious!

kk, who has nothing better to do that stand at a desk (literally! this desk is way tall and i haven't found a chair to fit it yet!!!) and look at a computer screen :) (but boy oh boy, does it make me feel better!!!)

I've not done a Top 10 list yet. Therapy hasn't been my cup of tea. I'll give it a try though. I've found that pharms help much more. That's just me.

i mean get on the 10 list. it seriously helps me out when i'm feeling down, jsut to list things that are going good in my life. coffee is usually my first on the list.

sorry therapy isn't helping you. i know when i sw my last one, she caused me severe anxiety (grrrrrr!!!!!~), so i quit going. why bother paying someone to agrivate me, when i can find so many other FREE ways to become hostile? :)

the meds help me a whole lot too. thank goodness for meds, though some of the side effects really stink!

get on that 10 list dear! i'm sure i can help you to start one...

10. mission7 is highly intelligent.

8. you got out of bed today, right? sometimes that's very hard to do.
7. you're posting on my FAVORITE board!!! YAHOO!! i get to talk to you!!!

3. I have an awsome dog that really loves me and a cat that likes me enough to stick around for observation.

1. Soon, this freezing cold will be gone.

Not very uplifting, for sure. But, it's a start.

It sure is a start, and I'll try a list of my own...

10 Half-caf coffee - as long as it's good stuff - is great at starting my day
9 Found oodles of free podcasts with guided meditations, 'cause I can't find the way myself
8 Annual GYN appnt over with for another year, yahoo!
7 Actually LOST WEIGHT over the past year, another yahoo!
6 I'm exhausted, have to catch my breath for a moment
5 I'm able to read books at the moment (never thought I'd have to make thanks for being able to do this, but I do, because sometimes you lose this!)
4 I'm READY for this weekend's antique fair and the official debut of my business. I guess, at this point, the website doesn't count because nobody's really noticed??
3 Pedicures and having someone else take all the nasty stuff away from from your feet is well worth it! Hear! Hear!
2 I STILL love my perm - guess that's true sign of being middle-aged, but I'll sign any pledge put before me.
1 Babble and all that goes with it.

Thanks, KK - as ever, you are an inspiration.

sorry, it's jsut something i say all the time, since it rhymes! your list is super duper! wanna get married? (you'll have to wait until toph and i get married and divorced, of course, but that shouldn't take too long. i go through men like underpants dear!)

here's mine!!!

10. ducky got a bath and i got to spray him several times with a toy. though he loves it, it's still a bit of payback for him being a butt sometiems :)

9. box of instant brownies in the cabinet, jsut waiting for me to cook them. i even have eggs and oil, which are essentail to makiong instant brownies. please do not try to make them without these ingredietns, or they will look like duckie's diaper!

8. i really need an instant spell check on my compyter. seriously, people must think i'm doign drugs or something, with the wya i type. it's pretty awful, BUTT!!! the upside is that i rarely get bad feedback on myu horrible typing skills and my laziness fo rnot goign back and correcting it! YAHOO to people who dont criticize!!!

7. my mother told me i was 'such a good mother' simply because i had a snack waiting for duckie, while he was asleep. i realize when he awakes form a nap, he's usually hungry, so i try to have a snack ready and wiating for him when he awakes. it's awesome that my mother said 'you're so cool. a nd such a great mother' sinply because i think ahead (hey, i'm neurotic!! but, i guess in her eyes that makes me a good (NO GREAT!!) mother! AWESOME DAWSON!

6. my son is trained to put his bowls in the sink! yahoo! i have a tiny little slave, that i can make put my bowl in the sink when i'm done eating! here's to trianing children at a young age!!!

5. coffee. we've got some cheap stuff in the cabinet, that mister kk drinks beforew work. but, i have some decent coffee that i've ground and have wiating for when i wake up!! yahoo to coffee and tht 'jump start' i desperately need when waking to 'waaaaaaaaa!!!!!' first thing in the morning! yahoo coffee!!!

4. smokes. yes, i'm writing it again. yahoo to smokes! what would i do without you (other than be albe to run form cops (ok, i can still do that, if i need to. actually, my friends call me 'chetara' because when i see a cop coming, my first reaction is to run like the wind!!).. what was i saying again? oh yeah, smokes! so, i can't run for pleasure (who in the hell runs for pleasure anyway? those people need to up their meds, seriously!!!), but i can smoke a cigarette like it's no body's business!

3. ryan adams. his music is wonderful, beautiful, magnificant. oh, and god, he's adorable! that's all i listen to currently, and that's all i need to listen to, me thinks!

2. dancing. i can't dance. seriously, i'm that person, when you go out to a bar or club, that everyone's making fun of. yeah, that's me! that's why i usually don't dance in front of people, unless i've got alcohol running through my veins. but, at my new place, i find i'm dancing all the time (unless of course, i catch a glimpse of how silly i look in the mirror and i quickly sstop dancing!).

1. little jackets! no, i'm serious! i wear little jackets all the time. they're great for winter time, when it's cold, but you just REALLY have to wear that sleaveless shirt. you can, if you throw a little jacket over top! yahoo to little jackets!!!!

I always got Ryan Adams confused with Brian Adams (Cut's Like a Knife). At first, I didn't know there was a difference and I couldn't figure out why everyone was all the sudden going ga ga over an 80's singer. I would say to people, "I don't get it."

my brother in law has it, but i haven't borrowed it yet. (i mean the bukowski documentary) i really want to see it though.

i often wonder if people who do pedicures get kicked a lot... my brother in law once tried to suck on my sister's toes, and she kicked him in the face (as a reflex, i think?). i wonder if that ever happens to pedicurists? (getting kicked in the face, not sucking on toes :)

yuck ot all of it.. this 'feet' talk is making my belly hurt!

i'm crossing my fingers for you as well hun! hope you sell lots of stuff!

yucky to feet,
