I disagree with you on that, for to make that conclusion, one would have to sample a great amount of reasonable people and that has not been done. There could be differant opinions based on other factors and you have not included that the names were in a hypothetical example and that the posters were not real. Drippy2 has no resemblance to any poster here unless ther is a poster here with extreme sinus problems. ObstreporusTex is a cantankerous Texan that doesn't listen to anybody, hence he is obstreporous, and I know of no counterpart here. Weirdedbeardo is a man that was caught with another girl and his girlfriend seen them, hence he had seenus trouble. I know of no counterpart here. Boozmzn was a person at the Kentucky Derby that was interested in getting bourbon while he was there. I know of no counterpart here. If 10,000 reasomable men were given the opportunuty to know all of the facts to determine your conclusion, perhaps the conclusion would be differant from yours.

If Loo Piddler went up to NobleT2 and babbled on about how he considers proposed policies to be unsound mental health practices, but the input from the posters suggests discussion has a better intention, would he be classified as uncivil?
Would 10 times in a row classify him as uncivil?

Gone? Oddipus, admittedly my mind is not at a hundred percent, and reading posts is difficult at the moment, but why would you be gone? Lou did persist in doing the very thing Dr. Bob asked him not to do, and as you know, that's a surefire method to get yourself a discplinary action.
Of course, I may be completely off base here, and I may have missed something completely.
I can't quite imagine you getting blocked though, Oddipus. I suspect civility is a point of honor with you, and has nothing to do with Dr. Bob's rules.

It was the length of time. I'll agree with you there. Dr. Bob often adjusts the length of time in the direction of mercy, it's been ages and ages since Lou has gotten a PBC since he tries very hard to stay within the guidelines, and his offense wasn't worthy of such an extended block. A simple two week block would have suited my idea of justice better. The block itself didn't surprise me, because if Dr. Bob tells you not to do something, and you turn right around and do it immediately, you're gonna get blocked.
But it was within the scope of his power, so I don't feel I can be righteously angry over it. It just wasn't his most merciful decision.

What seems to work for me is just going with the stated rules and warnings on specific posts. I do not assume that every post that doesn't get a warning is civil any more than I assume that all the people around me driving 75 mph means that the state speed limit has been revoked and that I can go as fast as I like without a ticket. If in doubt, kindness is almost always civil, being witty or winning the exchange may not be.

Oddipus, I admire and respect you as much as I can admire and respect anyone.
When I was in middle school, and became the targeted picked on kid, I hated my tormentors with all the passion my young heart could muster.
But I hated those who found virtue in staying out of it, those who saw what was happening and said nothing, nearly as much. I had always, *always* stuck up for those being picked on for the entire six years of my social existence. And when it came time that I needed defending there was no one there. Some kids quietly let me sit with them, invited me to their parties, accepted me as a friend, and I am grateful to those kids. But not one single solitary &*%$*! soul said one word when those bullies descended on me. And I hated them for it.
Now you, Oddipus dear, would have said something. And you do say something. And I love you for it.
