Beneath the flag of Love
I climbed, and always first
The scarlet letters lead me
Nearest God on Earth.

Beneath the flag of Love
I stumbled, and I fell,
Undignified, I cried:
Nearest shame to Hell.

With heart tipping forward,
I pledge anew to she
Whose love is still my liege,
Whose eyes nobility.
