old classmates from high school meet -
time vanishes, memories triggered.
close companions who once shared
homework, athletic conquests,
discoveries of fair skin girls and other intoxicants.
lives then separated by college, careers, spouses.
two grey-haired men now pondering
the unspeakable question -
what part in the distance between
these once inseparable friends
did the wedge of mental illness play?
