Ode to Half a Century

I wish I were nine going on 10.
Excited about becoming a double digit.
Jumping ahead 39 years isn’t so pretty.
AARP is hunting me.
Exciting benefits for SENIORS!
I can't wait for senior skip day,
I’m going to skip being a senior.
Is my pending half Century empty?
Half full?
Full of emptiness?
Just plain full of it.
