Salt tides
In her eyes,
That sink
And then rise,
Just hint at
The currents below,
The swirls
Advertise
What that
All implies,
That her sighs echo
An undertow’s flow.Why she
Acts surprised
Her lie’s
Been compromised,
I don’t suppose
I’ll ever know,
But while she
Still denies
She’s drowning
Out cries,
The sinking of
Atlantis shows.The mermaids
All imply
That she once
Caressed skies,
But pearl towers
To the bottom go,
And as hard
As I try
To halt her
City’s slide,
I see bubbles
That tell me “No.”Come back
To my side,
Sweet Elissa,
Don’t hide
Your hurt where
Sharp coral grows,
Don’t sever
Our ties
For fear
I’ll capsize,
I too have felt
Hurricanes blow.
