Goodness

Posted by cockeyed on September 23, 2005, at 21:48:03

Are goodness and kindness
one and the same?
Can one be "good" and unkind without blame.

My kindness consists of waving a driver on.
And it's got me wondering what trip I'm on

I know i ain't good 'cause I drink and drive
but then kindness cuts in and I wave people by.

But kindness would mean just sitting in my seat
watching TV when I'm getting beat.

And what about criminals: should we be kind
If the cops catch me the answer I'll find.

But "kindness" is sort of hard to define.
Does it mean the best of being human
And using the part of our mind
that may be god-given.

I know that I find, hatred and rage when I
think...or think I'm thinking
Or do I just want to unwind and sling my anger
at whoever's in line.

A human dilemma? or the animal just behind?
