Tangy Metallic Taste of Tyrannosaurus Sax
Sparking arcs of electric angst
Crackling like current along a
Third-rail spinal-column track
Sheathed in the blue-flame fury
Of high-voltage high-velocity
High-ferocity sweet jazz savagery
Lay down the tangy
Metallic taste of Tyrannosaurus Sax
Amid primeval thunderous flashes
Of neural lightning skating
Across the concave contours
Of skulls too hot to handle
And too cool to comprehend
As train station vibrations
That echo with Coltrane and Parker
Shake loose gem-like drops
Of prismatic rain from the eaves
That fall like crystalline notes
Like jewels whose gleam
Is felt and heard but never seen as
They gather into puddles
Along cerebellum subway platforms
After erupting from vaporous clouds
Of white-hot illuminated ruminations
Alchemist’s transformations in brain crenulations
From dull gray chemical lead
To liquid gold revelations of swing sorcery.
