TO ACT
The question is why
Why awake in the morning?
There was a time when I loathed sleep
Now when I awake, it's the depths I seek
"no, no, not to Lethe"--Little Johnny Keats
at least he was a poet, And when He speaks
I'm afraid I still listen, Christ, what a
geek.
I mean me, not Little Johnny Keats,
He could apotheosize on an Ancient Grecian urn.
And I wonder what the f*ck there was to learn
about truth being beauty, and beauty truth
it's all beyond me
I try to wake up...No, I really don't want
to go gas up the car, then get some vodka
I want. Cause the vodka and the pills
somehow make this a world I'd want
And I wouldn't give a sh*t about these ideas
I've got.
They run laps in my brain, catch them I
cannot.
except in silly doggerel vain,
yes, that slip probably means a lot.
Why the hell do we feel, It would be so
much better to not.
And awake in the morning ready to go
then wanting an excuse to not.
cockeyed.
