After a particularly heavy thundershower in NYC on an especially hot day, dancing phantoms of water vapor -- not unlike fog -- swirly about the asphalt as it steams. The wind currents created by the tall buildings can make them almost seem to be performing. In the poem, this is the city's gift back to the sky. Atticus
