Oh, I'll keep writing. I have the hazy shape of a poem in my head right now; it's still like something seen through fog, but that'll burn off and the visuals will come. Sometimes I do have to alternate the really heavy ones with something lighter. For instance, after the exhausting "Tyrannosaurus Meds," I wrote the much more playful "Blowin' Past G.O.D. on Route 280," mainly to get my head out of the dark place described in the first poem and into the sunnier territory recalled in the second. "Blowin' ..." gave me a chance to catch my breath before diving into "Three Brass Keys," which I knew would be kind of rough. That's one of the reasons I tend to flip back and forth to pre- and post-1996 events. '96 is a real-line of demarcation for me, in terms of the illness beginning to take over my life in earnest.
