once upon a time in a land far away there lived...

Once upon a time in a land far away there lived a young clever lass. She wanted to play all day and surround herself with people who loved her.
This land where she lived could change in a moment. It was filled with silly, fun loving people and animals at one moment then it might magically change. Fear would grip the mirth filled faces and suddenly no one was safe. The sweet silly phrases that were so much fun to utter were looked at with anger. Meanness filled the land. The sky got inky black. The grass that was so soft hardened up as if frozen. The people would not look each other in the eye. Fear and anger ruled the land.
This sweet lass would look around for her friends. They were hiding in their hearts. They still moved about but silently. Once every so often one would offer a tiny hopeful thought, only to be dashed down by an angry fearful thought. Anger was so red-hot that it would wither all the delightful fun. This went on for too long and then the happy people got tired of all the anger and rose up. They said one then two funny stories and pretty soon all the fear that gripped the town creaked and fell to the ground like shards of a mirror. Soon everyone was laughing and the sky was filled with sunlight and people could look at each other and play. The lass raised her head to the sun and beamed.
