Echos

Posted by Greta on January 19, 2004, at 18:10:27

Echo's

I start eagerly up the trail

Wind whipping the hair about my face

Mountain chill freezing the tears playing at the far

corners of my eyes

My breath, cold even in my lungs- not showing itself

filling my head with sound as I run

jumping over rocks and stumps barely seen under the

snow

Echo Lake lies frozen and still

I give a shout just to check

and laugh

Up, up the path wanders

tracks of those before me

some in the snow

some in the memory of a sunny day

I was different then

suddenly

standing on the spot where you sat

Looking in at me in my little cave

I felt safe then and let you in

with your smile and summer blue eyes

oh, what a wonderful story you told.

I still recall the hardness of the rock as I

Sat listening, believing

You touched my soul that day in the sacred places

I brought you

Little did I know those words were not for me

Looking up from the yesterdays

The summit beckons

The trees are ablaze with the setting sun

fire touches my face, renewing me

absolutely

Expanding, suddenly I'm at the top.

the heavens comfort me with stars

Moonlight washes over me with promise
