a poem i wrote tonight about saying goodbye

THE LAST GOODBYE

As I heard the words you said
With such venom
I closed my eyes and prayed
That when I opened them
This conversation
was just a dream

The reality of the truth
Has hit so hard
And i have fallen fast
Somehow
I just cant get up

The years of waiting faithfully
Hoping,praying,crying
has been for nothing
except to welcome heartbreak

Pain within is so real
as it all sinks in

Somewhere from the broken soul
A stirring of new life
Driven by the sweetness of success
And I will win
All because
Of the last goodbye
