My above thread on Xanax withdraw got kind of long . In an unexpected little turn, I managed to get a handful of 2mg valium tablets (outside of a doctor) on my irst day on no more Xanax. According to information that should make the getting off Xanax more smooth. I got 40 2mg tablets (total of 80mg). I took 30mg the first afternoon and evening after no more Xanax (was most recently at about 3 to 3.5 of Xanax)and will try to somewhat taper the rest of the valium. The Valium has such a long half life so it should take the bad and sudden parts out of withdraw. One concern is that is will also drag it out.
QUESTIONS:
#1) According to info on this chart at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzodiazepine , Valium includes more characteristics. In addition to the anxiolytic effect like Xanax, It also has hypnotic, anticonvulsant, and muscle relaxant effects. Since I am an addict of everything (and my body/brain knows it) will these additional properties of valium pose any extra problems in getting off the benzoids?#2) I sure hope the long halflife does not drag out negative withdraw. How can the half life vary so much? (20 to 100 hours). That seems like a huge varience. What are the facters that make it so different in different cases?
It also seems strange that with such a longer half life, the valium still peeks at 1 to 2 hours just like the Xanax.
