Yes, I must say, I have much more sympathy for people detoxing from street drugs now that I've had to quit some prescribed (not abused) drugs. I can understand so much more now about how it feels to have a substance suddenly taken away. It's not that you consciously want it, it's that your body is telling you that you NEED it. It's horrible. My advice to anyone, is that if your doctor wants to put you on meds, seriously consider if you ever want to live without them, because you may not be able to, or at least not very well. I had to go on meds, because I was non-functioning without them, but I would have to ask people to seriously consider the long term possibilities if they can live without them.
-Bonnie> All I have to say is damn... I've kicked Heroin OxyContin and Methadone and there were points I wanted to die. What amazes me is the stuff I read here about antidepressents and the like. The stuff you people are describing is in many cases worse than kicking dope or OCs. Only the meth kick seems worse than the stuff I see posted here. I know xanax and other benzos could be a rough kick but I didn't know things like effexor took you longer to quit than dope!
