> I've been on Lamictal for a little over 5 weeks, not even done with the sampler packet yet. Once I hit 75mg, the headaches started, and my derealization symptoms, which I was trying Lamictal for in the 1st place, became too intense for comfort. I also take 1mg Klonopin and I found that I was having to increase my dose, which is a big no-no for me as a generally med-phobic/benzo-phobic person. Any danger in stopping Lamictal cold turkey at this point? I did some searching here and it seems the only symptom people complained about was rebound depression, and that's not an issue since I'm still just as depressed as when I started. Just being paranoid and want to know for sure :) thks!
Know for sure? I don't think I could make such a guarantee. However, you probably could go cold turkey. You haven't been on it that long. Also, Lamictal is often stopped abruptly whenever a rash develops.
To be sure I think you could use a rapid taper just to minimize your risk of having a seizure and developing a rebound rash. The rebound rash is pretty rare. You might want to try something like:
50mg 1-2 days
25mg 1-2 days
12.5 1-2 daysSince I can't know how severe your reaction to Lamictal is, I can't really put myself in your place. If it were bad enough, I would probably gamble and just stop taking it. You haven't been on it for that long, and the Klonopin might help reduce your risk of seizure. Be aware that you might experience a transient rebound depression, anxiety, and tremulousness.
I'm sorry that I can't be more definitive in giving a recommendation. I'm sure you'll make the right decision given your circumstances.
