Hi,
My 15 y.o. son has been on 25 mg. of clomipramine for 1.5 years and we are starting to wean him off. Does anyone have experience in stopping this drug?
He also takes low doses of seroquel (12.5 mg) and abiligy (2.5 mg) for one year.
His psychopharm suspects that the clomipramine is related to his sometimes negative mood and his continuing weight gain. 1 year ago she got him down from 50 mg to 25 mg but then advised us to stop the 25 mg cold turkey which was a disaster.
We are making another run at it and I have been knocking about 1/4 of the powder out of the caps (something which drives his psychopharm crazy because it is not precise -- which is a reasonable concern but I see no alternative).
Over the past 3-4 days I tried knocking out about 3/4 of the powder out but last night he got freaked out in a way I have not seen for a very long time plus he was feeling nauseated. I think we have to take the withdrawal very slowly and would be grateful for any advice.
Also he cannot take SSRIs -- tried luvox, zoloft and celexa in the past.
Thanks Very Much!
