In reply to Acupunture for Effexor XR withdrawal, posted by 3days2 on August 25, 2005, at 16:01:58
How long were you on Effexor? It's doubtful that you would be having withdrawal for over a month. When you stopped Effexor I did have the usual brain electrical shocks for about 3 or 4 weeks max.
You might consider going on another antidepressant such as Prozac or Lexapro for a short time and then weaning off that. This will take the place of the Effexor on a biochemical level at least. Then once you are ready you can stop that medication. These SSRIs tend to be much easier to stop taking in my experience.
> Hi,
> I have been off Effexor XR since mid July having weaned like I was instructed to. I have not felt good since. I am having everyside effect you can imagine and I even went to my PC doctor thinking that there was really something wrong with me. I had a battery of blood tests all come back normal and my SIL called to tell me that it could be the withdrawal effects of Effexor. She recommended acupunture for me. Has anyone tried it here if so did it work?
