I sorta answered this in a previous thread, but I'll post here to so it becomes part of this discussion. The last two times I quit or switched an antidepressant I was on a mood stabilizer at the same time. These both went pretty well.

The only time I stopped a head-med abruptly, I was taking the mood stabilizer Lamictal alone (and it was working pretty well on my depression, too) when I developed a small rash and my pdoc made me get off it. She wanted me to stop immediately, but I talked her into letting me tapering it over ONE week. That was a nightmare and I became so depressed. Yikes!
