> Look back at me from the mirror every morning. I never remember going to bed anymore, if I even go. And each morning I try and piece the evening together. All the while I'm staring at my puffy eyes with dark rings under them. And later on, I'll start all over again.
Sabrina, my heart aches for you. I've spent a lot of time researching this situation, and would like to give two URLs that may be helpful. When someone is using alcohol like that, as a drug, rather than simply for the fun of being drunk, that is a problem.
First, http://www.nattc.org/asme/details.asp?ID=0402d explains that is genetic trait I've mentioned how some misprocess GABA, and if alcohol is used to self-medicate, can become alcoholics.
Another link that explains some of the brain chemistry issues is: http://webpages.charter.net/rfhale/alcohol.htm
The archives of this board have many discussions about the wisdom of giving benzos to those who may be alcoholic, or prone to drug abuse, but unless the GABA situation is corrected, nothing else is likely to help.
