I agree with riding it out. klonopin is a benzo with a very long half-life and once you get down to the lower doses (and 0.5mg/day is low) all you can do is quit and ride it out. I've taken as much as 6 mg/day and tapered down 10% week until .5 when I quit (I was pregnant). Except for insomnia and some nausea it wasn't too bad. You have to taper at the higher doses because of risk of seizures, but at your dose most docs will either say go to .25 and quit or just stop at .5
