I just posted something re: to subutex, actually suboxone to another thread on this board (to splitinit). My experience is that it is very effective, especially for a week or two of detox. It will make things a LOT easier. It has a slight withdrawl associated with just getting off of it, but it is much easier than heroin or methadone obviously. I have had entirely positive experiences with it, but if you are not committed to your recovery from your heroin habit, you will not get better. Thats an entirely different issue of course. Best of luck and don't worry about the medication. Ask your doctor, but in my experience, buprenorphine (either subutex or suboxone) treatment is wonderfully effective. Heroin withdrawl really is a 2 week process though, so don't stop medication too quickly, and addressing some of the underlying causes of your addiction REALLY HELPS (whether its through psychiatry or changing attitudes and behaviors).
