So you will say 'there are 4 positions in logical space' and there would be, perhaps 5 major authors associated with 3 of the positions and nobody would be crazy enough to be a proponent of the 4th position.
So then you would make your career on advocating the 4th position.
Then any article on the topic would start with the standard into to the topic and you would get your name as the only known proponent of the 4th position.
A mention (as an author) is a different thing from people thinking that you have something credible or worthwhile or good to say... But the algorithms no no difference and people write to and for the algorithms.
The computers generate the papers to exploit the algorithms.

So people need to self publish on their own webpage, for sure.
And then you provide a link to your own webpage and so on.
