I havent been here in a long while, but I entered the site to complete the depression questionnaire and then to post a question about it on the admin board, so I thought Id stop in and say hi. Im an old-timer from when babble started, and it was a life-saver for me.
This has been a crazy year for me as it has for everyone. I am fortunate, though, not to have lost anyone dear to me or to get sick. I have isolated all year, due to health risks. It was lonely and depressing sometimes and of course, anxiety inducing. But I feel I managed fairly well. I couldnt work, so finances are worrisome, but I feel very fortunate to have had some savings to live on. I tried to keep myself busy with various thingspodcasts, books, crafts, zoom webinars, etc., as well as volunteer things that I could do from home.
Now Ive had my first dose of the vaccine and can see the light at the end of the tunnel. This feels both liberating and a relief and at the same time anxiety provoking in a different way. I see my money running out and am glad that being vaccinated will allow me to try to find a job, but that brings up a lot of my usual anxieties about employability, ability to sustain a job, competence, confidence, etc. add to that the realization that all the things I dreamt of completing during the pandemic that havent been done are now staring me in the face.
I hope others are doing well. How are you feeling at this point?
