Odor is very important.. A very primitive sense.

Great odour smells great, yeah :-) But it can also be kinda subjective...

They say with perfume that it smells different depending on the person. Because each person has a different odour and the person odour blends with the odour of the perfume... So instead of wafting a sprayed piece of cardboard you need to spray it on yourself and see how it wears on you...

There is some stuff on genetic diversity... How women, in particular, have different odour preferences depending on where they are at in their fertility cycle...

With respect to peoples natural body odour... There are some odours I feel attracted to and some others I feel repulsed by and I have no explanation of why... Maybe it is something about genetic disparity (the idea is that when people are too genetically similar there is a repulsion that prevents inbreeding and the genetic defects that would likely result from inbreeding). Maybe it does vary depending on the time of the month (whether it is about fertility considerations or not at all)...

But... For me... The smell of cologne or perfume without the smell of person is just the smell of an inhumane object. Those can smell good, don't get me wrong... Everyone (that I know of) loves the smell of a woffle cone... But then, nobody (except possibly a 11 year old) wants to smell like a woffle cone...

I would like to have more money to invest in perfumes, though... Nice scent is nice... And it is nice to feel like one smells good :-)
