Living in the moment (as often as possible) can move the grief process forward. At least keep grief moving and not stagnant. I recently left a therapist of three years, a compassionate woman who does not have tools to help with life skills and tolerate grief. It's painful, but I like to think the past may be immutable, but my perception and response are not.

All that said, any therapy that does not acknowledge my past hasn't worked.
