AA or associated meeting never worked for me, as the subject was too ingrained in my upbringing and the life I had lived.
Support, wherever you can find it IRL, is invaluable. I spent half a day from worrying about this meeting and came off sounding like I came that organization that teaches public speaking? What's it called? (brain f*rt).
It is something, too, to hear another's problems, and not be expected to suggest solutions. That is quite liberating. Sometimes here, on Babble, I keep quiet because I don't feel I can say anything beyond "I know what you mean." And now I don't feel safe without having THAT statement being questioned.
In a lot of ways, thank goodness for IRL.
