ah. no, i fixed it.

it is a known issue with mountain lion.

in order for the battery life to be 30 days (without use) they changed the default sleep parameters. you can change them back and it will wake up faster. in terminal you type:

$ sudo pmset -g

it will tell you standbydelay time in seconds. I changed the time to 24 hours by typing:

$ sudo pmset -a standbydelay 86400

then i restarted it (don't know if i needed to) and it is all better now!

i can't believe i waited so long to sort this out... everyone was like 'oh you have a new macbook pro and you are complaining it is slow, poor you'. but it was slow to wake up. way slow. and it is better now.
