It can be hard to tell what's going on from afar, but if this is new behavior and has a hint of something bizarre or strongly irrational, I'd try to get her checked out by her physician. Does she have any history of mental or physical illness or cognitive problems? How old is she?
I can hear that you're concerned, and it must be a bit stressful to be put in the place of being someone's "mission". Setting/maintaining appropriate boundaries can be helpful for that.
