I have a cousin who is a web designer. And my brothers best friend "family" who is a CPA, a lawyer friend in case we have need of this input. My sister is a masters degree Librarian so she could be invaluable. What other types of valuable knowledge would we need to set up our own site?
I would like it to be bound to most if not all of the "Community House" setup. It becomes an ideal of people working together to promote better mental health for the individual as well as for all.It is supposed to help people get jobs in the community. We will have to do that quite differently since we are form such a diverse community.
It has several main focuses.(at least to my recall)To create an environment that ALL have equal
input into its workings based upon a certain set of principles. (I will look them up another time)or please find them yourself!and post them
Always remember we are always working towards an ideal.
I had became known some around the country by contacing and interacting with so many Clubhousese and therapists which is why I recieved 3 or 4 job offers accross the coutry.
I took a very active role and interset in doing things the way the Clubhouse set them up to be done. No manipulations, power grabs, out and out lies...that is why I finally had to quit. It was potentially harming more people than it was helping because of certain staff needs. I won't detail it here, besides narsisistic and self-estemm isssues one staff member slept with the boss. But the way she manipulated members had them embarrassed to ask me for help and sometimes quite lost. She went out of her way to demean members because she knew nothing she did to me meant anything anymore but she knew abou thow I felt about the clients.I was asked to stay if they fired her but as he had already slept with her who knows what could come about next so I quit.
If I could get the material and you could look it up under "Clubhouses" mental health and read about the purposes, the mission, how the program works so well and why, The importance of having very few "staff"... Thesre are several tapes or DVD's available, I will look into that.I wish I could remember more. It is an idealistic program to strive for. That if nothing else it keeps if only to get better and better. Actually it should be quite easy to search the net and read the mission statements and newsletters of many different Clubhouses. They all have a unique flavor.Anyway I think this would be a good idea with or without "DR Bob". In fact it would be quite a different nitch and not in competition with this site.
I have some people in mind to seed the program and a fiduciary who is a CPA.
What does anyone think about it? Suggestions questions, offers of help!!
This program is basically community run. One time the staff that was supposed to be there just did not show and never called. The building owner let the members in who on their own made breakfast, charged for it, cleaned everything up and started up the "Newsletter"unit (the one I was in charge of) The next day a certain "narcissistic" staff member got up at morning meeting and very accusatory blamed me and the one other staff who for one day out of a whole year could not open early. She was supposed to be there anyway. Thing was the cafeteria program ran so well the "clients" could easily do it on their own just as starting up the newsletter and/or office work I was to be charged with.
I stood up and gave kudos to the wonderful job both the staff and the "members"were doing. They were supposed to be learning self sufficiency among other things. I felt like a proud Mom on that day.
If anyone is interested please get in touch with me. I will search out newsletters to read that will show an example of the work the Clubhouse does as well as the stories themselves will describe much of the day to day function of a "Clubhouse."
With all the information we could obtain and probably a lot of people in the Clubhouse Community would be glad to be of assistance to us we could adapt most of it to online activity. Read about it and come up with some ideas.
I had thought of stating this a while back but .... I think at least for me the time is right. But I cannot do it alone. So let me know what you think? It will take quite some time to get big Foundations to contribute. A lot of work has to go into it before we even ask. All the plans have to be set and on the table, including a fiduciary. I might still have some contacts there too.Not sure it was a long time ago. We will need a substantial amount of seed money. This is something that as we see what are needs are we can carefully plan out over the first few years to present to a fiduciary. Laptops and computers that that are interconnected across states. Maybe you know someone who could help us or maybe it is you. That would always best; if as much of the work could be accomplished my its' own members.
god nigh,

I have wanted to do this or something like it for a long time. I was going ot try and do something on a much smaller scale but perhaps if we can get enough nohow and know how to write for seed money (here my sister might be of some help)we could begin .
First we have to make a plan. I keeep saying we but I am hoping others are interested in planning fo rhtier own futures.
Maybe it is all a pie in the sky!
