Hello Alan7065
Welcome to Psycho-Babble. I personally think your therapist was out of line telling you that you should go on disability. I think he is wrong. Unless you have a long pattern of not being able to work because of your symptoms, he should not have suggested you go on disability.
Maybe he was just being practical since you thought you might lose the unemployment money, but still, he shouldn't have said that.
Do you feel you are unable to work on a day to day basis? So you lost a job, that doesn't mean you are doomed to have this repeat. Maybe that job just wasn't the right one for you. Maybe you temporarily had your symptoms interfere with your work.
I think that if you were able to keep a job for 2 years, that means you are fully capable of working. 2 years is a long time. Some people can't keep a job for a month.
Have faith in yourself. You made $50,000 a year. You can find another job and do well. You just got hired for a job, that means your employers picked YOU out possibily many other people. They think you can do the job. They hired you and not others for a reason.
Many people have depression and anxiety and do well in their careers. You are definitely not doomed.
I hope you realize how wrong it was for your T to say that to you and have confidence in yourself.
