Did I mention that I'm also doing research for a novel that involves a character very much like my friend, and forums very much like this one? Because of my role as a research author, I can't imagine how a court could attempt to restrain me prior to publication by confusing events in my life with those of my far-away friend and those of the fictional character whose fictional life is so much like that of my friend. A court would risk being overturned on constitutional grounds, whereas a medical provider would face potential civil liabilities for creating a police record that exposed my name as a member of this site, or as a potential mental health patient after I made it clear I am concerned about another person and about a fictional account that, when published, can help others understand mental health issues. In such a situation, punitive damages could be awarded on top of actual damages if a court found someone acted in such a way out of self-interest rather than out of concern for life safety.
i definitely want to end my membership at this site. NOW!
