> Oh my, you would like to THINK so, wouldn't you, but most states have very bare-boned systems in place for released prisoners. Also, I had to leave South Carolina to return to VA since I (literally) had no place to go in SC! Now, IF I had stayed in SC, I could have gone to Vocational Rehab for some nominal items like $25 vouchers for tools and clothing. Since I had drug convictions, I will never be eligible for food stamps or state assistance from SC (go figure!). LUCKILY, my one brother has let me come stay with him in VA, but I still feel like it is a burden to him. :(
~ ~ ~ I'm sorry.
Beurocracy (sp?) upsets me so much. Especially 'cast in stone FOREVER' things.
Sorry for my ignorance - is VA Virginia? I wish you the very best in setting up a new life for yourself. Is there any help for you in VA as to Vocation Rehab type of thing? Do you have "Social Services" in the States? That's what we call it here.
I'm glad it worked out for you to stay with your brother. I'm sorry you feel like a burden. Perhaps he doesn't view it like that at all.
hugs, Kath
