You don't seem weird or anything like that to me!
I'm always impressed at how you can express yourself.
I hope you ended up feeling okay.
I have done volunteer work a couple of times & I always felt nervous the first time - even somewhat nervous subsequent times.
Keep us posted - for example if you decide to give the volunteer work a try. If you need support regarding it, we're here for ya.
