Yes. They are immense. They contain greater than 20% of the world's fresh water, more than 22,500 cubic kilometers, all told.

The area Kath is visiting is the peninsula right above the word "Ontario". The peninsula is a section of a limestone escarpment that stretches for hundreds of kilometers, and includes the large island cluster to the NW, and extends SE to the junction of Lakes Erie and Ontario, where it is responsible for the glorious Niagara Falls.
Incidentally, some cedars clinging to the face of the escarpment have been growing for over 6000 years. A hiking trail runs the length of the escarpment, and environmental protections cover most of it.
