Whoa, didn't know he was a Pisces. No wonder I feel like I identify with him so well. I remember when I found out about his death, I called my best friend all upset and I just kept saying, "its just so sad!" and she kept saying, "its STUPID!" and I would say, "but its so SAD!" and she kept saying, "its STUPID!" We went on like that for a while. I guess that shows the difference in our perceptions of the situation.
Its easy to get overwhelmed by all the meanness in the world, but its just so much more advertised than the kindness in the world. I try to remind myself of that when someone shows an unexpected kindness. When that lady called 911 for me after my wreck - all I could think about was I needed to call my boss to tell her I was going to be late. But the lady recognized I was in shock and called the cops. There's many other, more minor examples of this type of thing. The people who hold the door open for you when your hands are full, the people who stop and help you if you fall down, the people who give you a ride when your car breaks down in the pouring rain, or even perfect weather (I've never broken down without someone stopping to help). These people don't expect thanks or even think to wait around for it. They just know this person needs help and that's what you do. Maybe not everybody does it, but there's always someone who does. Always. These small kindnesses just aren't the type of things that make the news!
I bet the ratio to good treatment on Psycho Babble compared to bad treatment is extreme. We're just more likely to notice when someone acts badly than not. Which is actually a good thing! The bad behavior is what stands out!
Try to concentrate on the good acts of people and not dwell on the bad acts. That's what I try to do, otherwise, I'd just lose my mind always being upset on behalf of people being treating badly!
