I work as a market research interviewer. I work in a call centre and am on the phones all night. Usually I wear a headset and sit there all night talking on the phone, but now I'm just marching in place and talking on the phones.
People are allowed to study, read, knit, bead, etc. while working. I figure marching in place would be allowed. It doesn't interfere with my work and it's much better than sitting.
I got the idea from this article I read about this idea of having treadmills in the office. The idea was to have this very low speed treadmill at a work station, with a computer and everything. People will walk at low speeds while working and they can end up burning a lot of calories doing this long low intensity work.
