"bump" usually means to post something so that a thread moves up towards the top of the board again. That only works on message boards which have the threads with the newest posts first.

Here, though, you could "bump" a thread from the archives, if you were hoping it would get some attention again. That's how some very old threads may reappear from time to time, especially on the meds board.
