I always trip and fall, spill stuff on me, other people, etc. Its imbarassing I know, but try not to be so hard on yourself!
You should definitely email him (so much easier than calling!!!)
So did he see you trip? Did he offer to help or anything? And of course you're going to clean up your mess, that's normal if you ask me.
