I remember a long time ago that National Geographic magazine had a scratch-n-sniff survey. When the results were compiled it reflected a more sensitive sense of smell in women than in men.

My sniffer becomes very sensitive when I have a migraine approaching - part of my aura, I suppose. And when I was a child I would have phantoms smells before becoming ill.

More recently, I discovered that my sense of smell improved when I discontinued taking Lamictal. I hadn't even realized that it had been suppressed. All of which fascinated my allergist when he first examined me. Not that he could give me any answers, though.

With the assistance of GG and Zenhussy, I've been able to explore aromatherapy. Good smells have always made me feel better. I just know that if I'd been alive during the time of the Great Plague, I'd have been one of those survivors wearing a great beak stuffed with flowers and herbs, strapped onto my face.

I also am unable to wear something I had on during a panic attack without laundering it first.
