aWkWaRd!!

Posted by Lindenblüte on November 19, 2006, at 14:55:41

Husband's boss threw a party last night. At least 50 people in attendance. So, we show up, boss greets us warmly at the door, husband hands him a gift, and he shakes my husband's hand, and when I go to shake his hand, he pulls me in closer and here's where all hell breaks loose

1) PanIC!!!!
2) Is he doing the French kiss-kiss on both cheeks thing?
3) WTF?!?!
4) Oh, he's already been drinking
5) Okay, I will manage half-hug, pat him on the back
6) Mother f*cker is he pressing his chest against mine or am I just off-balance
7) Loud boasting "The best part of having my own party is that I get to hug all the ladies"
8) the moment of un-hug walk away quickly.
9) I ask husband- did that seem awkward to you? um, no honey, it's okay- he's had too much to drink
10) throughout the evening... silent hopes that boss will not remember that god-awful moment... reminded at intervals from loud announcement that he gets to hug all the ladies. (SILENT "thank god I'm not the only one!") wishing that the hug had never happened, because now I'm conflicted- is he a nice guy? upstanding? sexist pig? huh?

11) upon driving home, I once again brought up the awkward hug to my husband, who said that a lot of the girls at work (he calls females under age 40 "girls", hmm) complain that boss looks at their chest when in face-to-face conversation

12) Told Husband- thank GOD you told me- I'm never baring cleavage in his presence EVER. and a hallelujah that I looked "HOT" at the party without revealing skin- boots with heels, long pants and a leather jacket- ZIPPED.

in vino veritas...
