Aww, thanks sleepyG@!

the RH is quieter, I feel like some peace and quiet.

Also, my RH controls my left hand, which generally gets into much less trouble.

Prefrontal lobes and emotions:

My RH is generally better at perceiving and processing facial emotions (Heller & Levy, 1981), since I'm a right-handed individual. Although, when comparing the electrical activity in the two hemispheres, the LH seems to activate more when percieving positive facial affect, and the RH activates relatively more when perceiving negative facial affect (Best, Women, & Queen, 1994; Heller, Etienne, & Miller, 1995)

The RH tends to show more activity when experiencing negative emotions, and the LH tends to show more activity when experiencing positive emotions. While each of us may have a "set-point" in terms of their RH-LH assymetry, I think that my RH is a little "louder" right now, because I'm depressed. Recent research has shown that meditation practice can shift the balance towards the left hemisphere, increasing the activity in the LH, which is associated with positive emotions. (Davidson, date?)

I'm too worn out to discuss too many of the LH-RH assymetries in the parietal lobe, but:

Interesting research suggests that for arithmetic processes, the memorized math facts (9x3=27) is represented in the Left inferior parietal lobe, whereas more approximate arithmetic knowledge 92x 31=approx 2800 is processed in the Right inferior parietal lobe. Since I'm really bad at my math facts, I use my RH more in arithmetic.

RH is also more active when processing complicated linguistic things, like sarcasm, humor, metaphor and the like. I like these linguistic devices. YAY RH.

Lecture over (microphone squeals) (students wake up from their naps) (backpacks zip up) (grumbles from audience as they stumble out, dazed... hey, are the notes going to be available online?)
