It really is strange. And the strangest part is the emptiness. Although you wouldn't know it from parking downtown or traffic. The surrounding areas are bustling, but the main part of New Orleans, except for the few high areas along the river, are still eerily empty. Not as quiet as they used to be, with construction much greater than it used to be, but still empty.

Now the distressing part is reading about the theft of construction materials and even architectural details from the older homes. It must be terrifying for those who have rebuilt or are rebuilding to know how rampant crime is.

I have to stop reading the paper.
