It has, for some time. Cost more to make it, I mean. It's not free, to stamp those suckers out.
When the cost of *scrap metal* makes pennies worth more than a penny, then you just stand back. Gonna be a stampede. No, that would be a pennypede. Penny peed all over the place. ;-) [I am in a very weird mood. Heh.]
Just like when silver crossed that line. Copper is next. Penny pricing gonna go away, soon.
All those people with those big old jars of pennies won't even have to count them, to cash them in. Nope. Just weigh them. So much a lb.
A pound sterling used to be the value of a pound of silver. I think that was a while ago, now.
