{{{{{{{{{{{{verne}}}}}}}}}}}Verne, last year, I had the first Babble gathering in my sights. A ten-hour drive. That was doable. That's what I kept telling myself.
I wasn't even close to doing it. I couldn't have gone to Toronto that year, let alone Chicago. I couldn't have managed one day, let alone four in a row.
So, just lettin' ya know, I hear you. Loud and clear.
But it's the having those targets, even those that are unreachable, that push us on. I hear your grief over the lost opportunity. Look forward, and you'll see another opportunity. Look forward from that one, again, and you'll find yet another.
When I described the workshop, I made a special point of acknowledging those Babblers not in attendance. There were more people in that room than there were bodies. You were in my heart, and in my voice, when I spoke of Babble. And I don't think I'd be stretching it to think that other Babblers physically there weren't doing the exact same thing I was doing. I was calling on my experiences with you, to inform my speech to them.
I'm sorry your situation is so difficult. Just three months ago, I was housebound. If the gathering had been then, I would have missed it, too. Maybe you can find someone, a babbler perhaps, who could partner up with you? If the location et al was suitable?
I missed you, verne. No sh*t.
