Mel, you're right, and I apologize for my contribution to this thread.

I won't even lie and say I had no clue, or never thought of other possible interpretations, because I remember hesitating over that for a second... But not for long enough, or thoughtfully enough before I chose to post anyway. I didn't stay on the cautious side and I feel that is a shortcoming on my part.

I'm not easily or badly triggered either. But I (normally) have enormous compassion for those who are. I find *nothing* funny about the fact this happens to people here. Stepping back a bit, I now look at *my* post and say, "hmmm, what *was* I thinking?" :-(

Truth be told, although it might have shocked me on some level, I kinda think Bob should have given me a PBS for responding as I did.

Special k really made me realize how this could be viewed with her words, too.

I should *never* choose the option of, 'oh, won't this be cute and funny and won't I make others think I'm *so* clever' (not that the link is *that* funny anyway) over the possibility my joking around will cause pain or embarrassment.

I'm not saying mike99 had anything but lighthearted intentions. I have no reason in the world to think so. As I hope will be the assumption about me and my silly Roy Rogers link. The most charitable viewing of it, as special k likes to put it. I was just being impulsive and focused on getting a laugh, rather than the bigger picture.

Trigger means something unique here. I know that. And how well I know (mostly IRL) what it's like to feel upset by the casual wordplay of others who seem oblivious to me, my background, my reactions... When it happens, I really don't give a &*^* about intentions - at least at first - and especially if the remarks continue. It can be a rather large *ouch* in my day :-(

I guess I'm trying to say there are some things better left unsaid and un-posted. Guess the horse pics are appropriate as I sorta acted like the hind end there....

Again, I'm sorry.
